Richard J. Matthews, Ph.D. received a degree in Pharmacy in 1951 from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. In 1955 he received a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Pharmacology at the Jefferson Medical College of Philadelphia.
His career in drug development research began at the Upjohn Company where he was the head of the Neuropharmacology Department. In 1962, he started Pharmakon, Inc. - a research laboratory in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He retired in 1994, and has since devoted his time to the development of the Strata-C® product line.
Dr. Matthews is a member of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, Inc., as well as the American Academy of Dermatology. He has devoted his professional life to the research and development of new drugs for the treatment of human diseases.
